The Giving Tree
During the construction of our Fellowship Hall, several members had the idea of using a tree sculpture to both honor those whose dedication and faith built the hall, and to provide capital funds to grow the church.
In researching this project, a team found, met, and developed a relationship with, Stephen Zawistowski, a metal sculptor from Jacksonville, NC. He designed and constructed the tree and then donated it to the church. Traveling to Franklin in 2008, Stephen installed the tree and took part in the dedication. It was his desire that the tree be used to raise funds to grow the church.
In keeping with Stephen’s vision and the vision of Hickory Knoll UMC, the leaves on the tree are now available for purchase. The funds raised from this project will be used to grow the church.
Individual leaves on the Giving Tree may be purchased for a $1,000 donation. The name of the person or organization for which the leaf is purchased will be permanently embossed onto the leaf. Leaves are available on a first come, first serve basis until all 250 have been purchased. If you prefer to give in smaller increments, we offer a payment plan.
